RE Familiarization Tour
Mr. Lysander A. Gutierrez and Ms. Emmi B. Capili of klima Climate Change Center participated in the Renewable Energy Familiarization Tour last July 11, 2006. The tour aimed to promote Renewable Energy in the Philippines by providing updates on the status of Renewable Energy in the country, present the operational procedures of the different RE facilities especially the geothermal and hydro-electric plants, and highlight the importance of the passage and implementation of the Renewable Energy Bill in the country. The activity culminated with several lectures held at the Mak-Ban Asset Geothermal Plant, Batangas followed by the site tour that showcased their plant facilities. After which another visit was held at the Villa Escudero Mini-hydro power plant facility located at Tiaong, Quezon. Participants of the said tour included the Senate Committee on Energy staff, representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE), Renewable Energy (RE) Coalition members, representatives from the Confederation of RE Resources Inc. (CORE), and the NGO Coalition for Renewable Energy and Sustainability (NCORES), among others.
