As market-based mechanisms are seen to be a viable measure in addressing climate change, the CCIC held a forum entitled "Can the Market Save the Climate? A Public Briefing on the Use of Emissions Trading to Control Air Pollution" in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Understanding of the basics of emissions trading is an important step towards policy-making in air pollution control and reduction of greenhouse gases. The public briefing aimed to familiarize various sectors with the concept of emissions trading and the prospects and opportunities in the Philippines for more active participation in climate change efforts.
